Do you have the courage to be a hippo?

Have you felt pressure to lose the baby weight? Or change how you look to appear more palatable by society's standards?

Let's talk about hippos for a second.

No one's telling a hippo
....to lose the baby weight
....that it's too "obese"
....that it would look better with longer legs and a rounder butt
....that it's got too many wrinkles
....that it's not good enough just the way it is!

Plus, even if we did, a hippo doesn't care what we think anyway!

Now THAT'S real confidence!

You only need to take one look at our animal friends to know that we, as humans, have screwed it up.

We've made everything a problem - from weight, to wrinkles, to the length of our legs, to the colour of our skin. Everything needs "fixing". Keep people unhappy with themselves so they keep coming back for more.

More dieting. More fitness. More treatments to hide "imperfections." More ways to make ourselves small. More time and money spent, and more mental load.

So much of this is rooted in patriarchy, white supremacy, and fatphobia. Question all of it! It's not YOU that's the problem, it's the system. But we can decide to be part of the change.

I watched this hippo hanging out in the water with its hippo friend for a while. It looked like such a badass! Gliding around, sunbathing, not a care in the world. Probably dreaming of what's for dinner (it eats 80-90 lbs of grass!! 🤯).

So next time you feel down about your looks, channel that hippo energy! 😈

Keep questioning how you've been socialized, because nothing about the way you look is wrong.

If you want to change your appearance, be sure that it's for YOU, and not for some arbitrary societal standard.

Because you are just right, the way you are.
