Coaching FAQs

What is virtual Fitness Coaching like?

One of the many benefits of having virtual coaching is that we can discuss all of your symptoms and concerns, and go over all of your exercises from the comfort of your own home with the equipment you have available, and the environment you'll be working out in.

I use a private, secure online platform, a version of Zoom specifically for health-care providers. All you need is a device with a webcam and access to the internet. A charged-up laptop or computer device or phone works well.

During virtual assessment and follow-up appointments, we will:

• discuss your specific symptoms/concerns

• evaluate your posture, range of motion, movement patterns, functional strength, as needed

• put together a personalized fitness plan to achieve your goals

• prescribe, review and progress exercises specific to your goals

• if applicable, provide postpartum recovery guidance back to your goals including exercise, return to running, strength training, yoga and sport

• if applicable, provide pregnancy and birth preparation counselling

Some insurance companies have coverage for virtual personal training or fitness coaching appointments. You are encouraged to contact your company directly to check if this is covered.

What if I have babies/kids/pets at home during a virtual appointment?

It’s all good! You want your exercises to fit the lifestyle you have right now. If your life right now has a kiddo running around in the background, let's make sure that your exercises work with your kiddo running around in the background! That's real life!

How long are initial and follow up sessions?

Your initial consultation is a private one-on-one meeting for approximately 60-minutes. It is $225 CAD. Follow up visit length will be discussed during your initial consultation, as they are tailored to your particular needs. Typically, follow up sessions are 45 minutes but may be 30 depending on the treatment plan discussed. Rates range from $120 CAD for 30-minutes to $165 CAD for 45-minutes.

What is my financial investment to work with you?

This will be determined following your initial consultation. We will discuss your goals and work together to make a plan. You can change your mind at any time. Some clients may require 1-3 appointements to get them on the right track, and most will attend weekly or biweekly sesisons until their goals are achieved. Many clients also continue with me long-term to focus on injury prevention and ongoing strengthening. A minimum of 12-weeks is suggested to allow for strengthening to occur.

Your total financial investment will depend entirely on your goals and your needs. I recommend budgeting $1500-$2000 for optimal outcomes.

How do I pay?

Clients may pay by credit card at the end of each session. Receipts will be provided electronically.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel my appointment?

I respect my time and my clients time, and I'm sure you respect your time. You must provide 24 hours notice for rescheduling or canceling any appointments. If the minimum of 24 hours notice is not provided or if there is a missed appoint appointment, the full appointment fee will be charged. Please note that extended health insurance does not cover missed appointments or late cancellation fees.

What if I am late to my appointment?

I respect my time and I'm sure you respect your time. Your time is reserved for you alone, and the length of your session will not be extended if you are late. I encourage you to keep me informed if you are running behind, and I will do the same for you, if that were to occur. If you are more than 15-minutes late and you have not informed me that you will be late, your appointment will be considered a no-show and the full rate will be charged.

What if I need imaging or referrals?

With your consent, I will write a letter to your family physician following your initial consultation. If you need imaging or further investigation, I will suggest you follow up with your doctor.

I often make referrals to dietitians, naturopathic doctors, mental health therapists, doulas, and lactation consultants, based on your needs and goals.

What exercise equipment do I need at home?

Some clients use household items like soup cans, water bottles, pillows and staircases to do their exercises. Others have resistance bands and dumbbells and kettlebells. I will also show you many body weight exercises. If you'd like to build strength, I suggest grabbing a set of moderate weight dumbbells at the very least. This can very from 5-10 lbs for some or 20-30 lbs based on your own strength. Weights are always a good investment!
