Virtual pelvic physiotherapy helps you get better faster

Top 7 benefits of virtual pelvic physiotherapy

  1. Clients feel more empowered

  2. More convenient to fit in

  3. Fewer barriers to accessing care

  4. Learn realistic strategies that are doable in your own home environment

  5. Increased privacy to discuss sensitive topics

  6. Flexibility to do sessions at home, workplace, in a hotel room, while traveling, or even in your car

  7. Backed by research

I've been working fully virtually for 2 years and my client outcomes are better than when I treated in-person. My clients need fewer follow-ups, have faster recovery, and more confidence with movement... and you know why?

  • Because my clients feel more EMPOWERED!

    • They learn how to take care of themselves right from the beginning! They're not lying on a bed for half hour getting passive treatment relying on me to "fix" them. With virtual sessions, clients have to learn to rely on themselves to do the exercises, to incorporate the strategies, and to get better - and when they do that, they build self-trust. And feel better faster!

  • Virtual care teaches realistic ways to exercise with work and kids around

    • Folks learn how to get exercises done amongst work, crying babies & clingy toddlers. They're not learning things that will only work in a quiet clinic setting, like biofeedback or specialized equipment unavailable at home. They're not relying on doing exercises with hands-on cueing from a physio only to then go home and feel lost on how to do it on their own. With virtual care, they learn to connect with themselves, cue themselves and become their own biofeedback.

  • Virtual care is more convenient, improves access to care and removes barriers

    • Clients can fit in appointments with babies/kids at home, or while on a lunch break. No need to arrange childcare, or waste time getting to appointments. Virtual care allows folks in rural areas to get support.

  • Virtual physio allows for more privacy

    • Virtual setting allows for more privacy for sensitive conversations to occur. No likelihood of running into someone you know or having another client overhear details about your pelvic health.

  • Improved flexibility to do sessions at home or on the go

    • Traveling for work? Off on vacation? Only have a 30-minute lunch break? Virtual care fits within all these models and allows you to continue to receive support and make gains when you most need it!

  • Virtual pelvic physiotherapy is also backed by research!

    • In a 2021 systematic literature review, women who received treatment remotely (virtually) presented significant improvement in their symptoms, such as reducing the number of incontinence episodes and voiding frequency, improving pelvic floor strength and improving quality of life compared to women who had the face-to-face treatment. (de Mata et al, Telehealth in the Rehabilitation of Female Pelvic Floor Dysfunction: A Systematic Literature Review)

Who does Surabhi help through virtual physical therapy?

I help folks thrive during pregnancy, prepare for birth, and recover postpartum. 💪🏽 I also help folks manage symptoms of incontinence (leaks, urgency, going just-in-case), pelvic floor weakness, tension or pain. I want to help you be the expert of your own body while reducing fear and overwhelm.

What happens in a virtual pelvic physical therapy session?

In a virtual pelvic health physical therapy session, I take a thorough history, ask questions about your life, stress levels, and habits, and I listen to your needs. Based on your wants and needs, I provide the appropriate education, exercises, empowerment and support.

Pelvic health physiotherapy is about more than just Kegels and crunches. We work together to determine functional exercises and strategies that will actually fit within your life and not feel like it’s too much (or too boring 🥱).

Is virtual pelvic physiotherapy better than in-person physiotherapy?

To be clear, virtual physical therapy isn't necessarily better or worse than in-person. Both are valuable and necessary. Some conditions require in-person support. Some require a combination of both. Many require only virtual. I always encourage my clients to do what’s best for them. I have many local clients who could see any of the hundreds of local PTs in-person and yet, they choose to work with me. It’s a huge privilege to support the folks I get to work with and I don’t take that lightly. Don’t take my word for it, check out my client testimonials! 😉 (scroll to the bottom)

Who does virtual physiotherapy work best for?

Virtual physiotherapy tends to work well for folks who want to be active, be educated and feel empowered to care of themselves. Is that you? Need support with your pelvic health or fitness thru pregnancy, postpartum or beyond? I support folks to ditch pelvic floor symptoms (like incontinence/leaks, tension or pain), feel strong, and prioritize joy, pleasure and realistic self-care.
