Are leaks a normal part of being a mom?
Leaking (incontinence) is VERY common postpartum, whether you've had a Cesarean or vaginal birth. It's also more common as we age.
Just because it occurs to many people doesn't mean you just have to put up with it. Many moms avoid running and jumping, wear pads, and laugh about it amongst mom friends.
While moms joke about it in groups, when you talk to a mom 1-on-1, I can see that it's deeply shameful. Society considers this a "minor inconvenience" but when you're having to wear a pad or liner daily in your 30s or 40s, and fear you smell like urine, it's no longer funny. Beyond that, not being able to play with your kids - chase after them or join them on the trampoline, having to cross your legs when you laugh or sneeze, fear of peeing yourself during s3x, and having to wear dark pants out of fear of leaks. None of that is really funny.
To this day, many people have no idea that there IS a solution - and it's not doing a million Kegels a day and it's also not surgery. If you're still leaking beyond those first few weeks postpartum, know that there is help!
