What not to do with prolapse
What NOT to do when you get diagnosed with prolapse! And what to do instead! (Click HERE for the Reel)
Prolapse can be a huge mindf**k. There's no other way to put it. You have organs bulging out into your v@g and there's nothing good about the way it feels.
But here's what to avoid:
🚫Googling late into the night and looking at all the horrifying images
🚫Desperately asking random people online for advice
🚫Scrolling all platforms for the "perfect exercise"
🚫Not seeking professional help
I get it - it's tempting to just drive yourself mad looking everything up. I did it too for some time.
But here's what will help instead:
✅Stop checking your prolapse.
No need to keep looking and checking to see "how bad it is."
✅Seek professional support from a pelvic PT and/or postpartum fitness coach.
Not all pelvic floor PTs or coaches are good. It's like any profession, some are FANTASTIC, others are meh. How do you know the meh ones? They're the ones telling you to do Kegels and avoid lifting and instilling MORE fear in you. The good ones will use a holistic approach with exercises to strengthen your whole body and give you strategies that fit your life.
✅Seek therapy or counselling
You did nothing to cause your prolapse. If you're blaming yourself, anxious and can't stop thinking about your prolapse, it will make your symptoms worse. Doesn't mean your prolapse itself is getting worse though!! Speaking to a therapist to learn to calm your anxiety and ditch the guilt will be helpful. If you need meds to support your mental health, ask your doc.
✅Give it TIME.
How you feel at 2 months postpartum isn't how you'll always feel. I know it sucks incredibly. But give it time, put in the work and get back to being the strong bada$$ person you are!
