Are you showing up for yourself?
Show up for yourself 🎤
The first slide was shared from one of my Postpartum Return to Exercise Program (PREP) mamas today and I just loved what she said so much! I shared the tooth-brushing analogy in my stories this past week and a lot of you loved it so sharing that too!
It's a total myth you need to be excited to exercise. The excitement and endorphins come AFTER you exercise!
Sometimes you exercise because you know you'll feel so good afterward. You have goals. You want to feel stronger. Be faster. Have less symptoms. Have better bone health. Better mental health. There are literally dozens of reasons why we exercise!
But when we wait to be motivated, we're doing ourselves a disservice.
I'm not ALWAYS motivated to go climbing, biking, strength train, hike, and ski even though I LOVE all those things.
Sometimes I go through the motions to keep up my habit, to build that consistency. Because it is always far easier to keep going than to take long breaks and start over and over again.
Obviously, don't ignore rest or injuries, and don't just push yourself all the time - but if you want to build a habit, you actually have to do the thing! Just thinking about doing the thing doesn't count!
